Age of Learning, Inc. released today the results of a nationwide kindergarten preparedness survey to coincide with the opening of this year's National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) annual conference in Orlando, Florida. The survey, conducted with more than 500 kindergarten teachers across the country, reveals that America's kindergarten teachers believe most young children are unprepared for school when they enter kindergarten

As more states consider universal preschool programs, a new study led by a Michigan State University scholar suggests that two years of pre-K is beneficial – although more time should be spent on teaching certain skills.

In a new report in Psychological Science in the Public Interest, experts review the current state of publicly funded preschool, what science has taught us about early childhood education, and offer suggestions for improving efficacy of these programs.

Two recent stories reflected a dilemma over early childhood education. One article showed that the number of Kansas students enrolled in full-day kindergarten nearly tripled in the past 10 years as legislators pumped money into public education.
