By Jens Dana Deseret News PROVO -- The Provo City Council authorized Mayor Lewis Billings on Tuesday to enter into a contract to outfit the municipal airport with a radar system by 2010.
By Donald W. Meyers, The Salt Lake Tribune Jun. 19--PROVO -- Within 18 months, Salt Lake City-based air traffic controllers will be able to "see" what's happening over Provo.
PROVO -- The City Council has voted unanimously to consider appropriating more than $600,000 for a radar and projects at the municipal airport during its June 3 meeting. Provo finance director John Borget said the Provo Municipal Airport needs an appropriation of $176,112 to finish several projects.
Sens. Bob Bennett and Orrin Hatch should be recognized for their diligence and hard work in providing federal funding for the installation of a radar system at the Provo Municipal Airport. Inadequate radar limits air traffic control services and airport utilization during poor weather.
