By Jayaraj K.G.S IT was a long-awaited directive by the Education Ministry and Public Service Department (PSD) to finally "reward" teachers who had upgraded themselves from the certificate/diploma schemes after graduating with a degree.

By K.T. I REFER to your report "Students can postpone their return" (NST, April 5). The Health Ministry should be firm about the contracts signed by the Public Service Department scholars studying medicine in view of the acute shortage of doctors in government hospitals in Malaysia.

By Nadz I AM writing on behalf of a group of disenchanted Public Service Department scholars in Canada to appeal to the PSD over our monthly stipend here. The situation is grave and appeals have been made but the department's apathetic response is certainly not a good sign.

By Helen Chew I UNDERSTAND that the Education Ministry has proposed a series of reforms aimed at providing a more holistic system of education, with less emphasis on exams ("Education shift towards quality"- NST, Sept 16). Such a move will be welcomed by pupils, parents and teachers.
