The Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) has selected IBM (NYSE: IBM) to create and implement the infrastructure for an Integrated Ticketing System (ITS) across all public transport in the greater Dublin area.

A RECORD 29 million commuters escaped Dublins gridlocked roads for the Luas this year. The tram and national rail systems have seen massive increases over recent years as fed-up drivers increasingly abandon their cars for public transport.

Making the announcement today the Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey said the record number of people using both the Red and Green lines is proof that reliable, top quality public transport will be used.

THE Luas is to be extended into the centre of the Co. Wicklow seaside town of Bray, transport chiefs confirmed yesterday.
