A bases-loaded two-run single by Jorge Posada with nobody out in the ninth Friday lifted the New York Yankees to a wild 10-9 win over the Los Angeles Angels. New York owned a 4-0 lead from the first through the fifth innings, and then gave up nine runs over two frames to fall into a five-run hole. The Yankees, however, closed within one with a four-run eighth inning that featured a two-run single by Ramiro Pena, and then won it by getting to reliever Brian Fuentes in the ninth. New York has captured four in a row, its longest winning streak of the season. Fuentes (0-2) walked Mark Teixeira to open the ninth and Hideki Matsui singled Teixeira to second.
