Richie Ramsey posted a bogey-free 4-under-par 67 Friday and jumped into the lead halfway through the Wales Open. Ramsey, who is at 7-under 135 after 36 holes, was tied for eighth after the tournament's first round but his 67 was one of Friday's best rounds.

Shane Lowry, who last week became the third amateur to win a European PGA Tour event, on Thursday officially turned professional. Lowry won the Irish Open, taking the title on the third sudden-death playoff hole. The allowed him to jump 10 spots to the No. 6 ranking among the world amateur golfers.

Amateur Shane Lowry of Ireland parred the third playoff hole Sunday and won the European Tour's Irish Open over England's Robert Rock. Lowry and Rock each closed with a 1-under-par 71 for a total of 17-under 271 in regulation play. Both players parred the first extra hole and birdied the second.
