Jason Bay's two hits and two RBI Thursday led the Boston Red Sox to a 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. Both RBI came on his two-out, first-inning double. Later, Kevin Youkilis had three hits and one RBI and Victor Martinez had two hits and one RBI.

Hideki Matsui hit two solo home runs and Alex Rodriguez had a two-run homer and three RBI Sunday to lead the New York Yankees to an 8-4 win over Boston. Derek Jeter and Johnny Damon scored two runs apiece for the Yankees, who won twice in the three-game series at Fenway Park and extended their AL East lead over the second-place Red Sox to 7 ½ games. CC Sabathia (15-7) started and went 6 2/3 innings for New York, allowing four runs on eight hits with no walks and eight strikeouts. Rocco Baldelli led Boston with two RBI. Red Sox starter Josh Beckett (14-5) went eight innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and no walks. The Yankees scored first when Jeter homered on the first pitch of the game, and never trailed after that.

Marc Rzepczynski got his first major league victory Saturday by holding Boston to a run and four hits in six innings in a 6-2 win by Toronto. Rzepczynski (1-1) walked four batters, but was able to keep Boston's explosive offense in check and four relievers did the same thing. Adam Lind hit a two-run

Pedro Feliz had three hits and two RBI Sunday, boosting Philadelphia to an 11-6 inter-league win over Boston and averting a three-game Red Sox sweep. The RBI came on a two-out double in Philadelphia's six-run seventh inning. Jimmy Rollins knocked in three runs -- one on a solo homer in the seventh inning. Both Shane Victorino and Ryan Howard had two RBI.

Mike Lowell finished off a three-run rally in the eighth with a sacrifice fly Thursday, vaulting the Boston Red sox to a 4-3 decision over the New York Yankees. Boston has won all eight meetings with the Yankees this season and has a nine-game victory streak against them dating to last season.
