Rod Pampling, seeking his first PGA Tour win in three years, grabbed a one-shot lead Thursday in the opening round of the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open. Pampling shot a 5-under 67 at the Montreux Golf and Country Club, opening a bid for his third career tour triumph.
Jerry Kelly had a 3-under 69 Saturday to widen his lead to three shots after the third round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Kelly completed 54 holes at 13-under 203.
Brian Gay birdied five straight holes on the front nine Friday and used a 5-under 66 to take the lead after the second round of the Heritage. The leaderboard was dotted with former major championship winners trying to regain past form, but Gay moved into position to win for the second time on the PGA Tour.
Rod Pampling beat fellow Australian Marcus Fraser on the third playoff hole Sunday to win the Australian Masters golf tournament in Melbourne.
