Kansas State University officials announced Friday Bill Snyder has agreed to coach the Wildcats football team through the 2013 season. Snyder, 69, who has more football victories than any coach in school history, retired in 2005 after 17 years.

The former president of Kansas State University is denying he knew about a side deal on a $3.2 million buyout negotiated by head football coach Ron Prince. Jon Wefald rejected Prince's contention that Wefald and other school officials were aware of a secret buyout agreement when they fired the coach at the end of last season. Wefald told the Kansas City Star he stood by statements made in the spring in which he said no one at the university knew about the buyout deal that had been struck by Prince's agent and then-athletic director Bob Krause. Kansas State is suing Prince to get the money back.

Kansas State University alleges in a lawsuit it should not have to pay its former football coach Ron Prince $3.2 million as part of a 2008 agreement. The university and its athletic corporation say in the Riley County District Court lawsuit the agreement between Prince and former Kansas State Athletic Director Bob Krause should be invalidated since the school's lawyers did not participate in its creation, the Kansas City Star said Thursday. On May 11, 2009, I learned of a secret deferred-compensation agreement that Bob Krause apparently negotiated with Ron Prince's attorney, Interim Kansas State Athletic Director Jim Epps alleged in a statement about the August 2008 deal.

Bill Snyder, who once guided Kansas State to football success, has been coaxed out of retirement to attempt the trick for the Wildcats again. Kansas State officials, in a release Monday, said Snyder would replace Ron Prince, who was told earlier this month that he wouldn't be retained for next season.
