Lastings Milledge hit a ninth-inning, game-winning two-run single Sunday, rallying the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Milledge's bases loaded single -- his only hit of the game -- capped a four-run rally in the bottom of the ninth. Andy LaRoche had two hits and two RBI, a run scored on an error by Rafael Furcal, another scored on Clayton Kershaw's third-inning wild pitch, and Andrew McCutchen had three of the 11 hits for the Pirates, who have won two of three. The winner was closer Matt Capps (4-8). Furcal's two RBI led Los Angeles.

Jim Thome hit a key two-run single Saturday, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 8-4 win over Pittsburgh and securing a post-season berth. LA Manager Joe Torre will make his 14th straight playoff appearance. Thome, acquired from the White Sox Aug.

Jon Garland limited San Francisco to an unearned run and seven hits in eight innings Saturday, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers' 12-1 rout of the Giants. Garland (11-11) used 95 pitches to produce his third quality start since being acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks this month. Jeff Weaver hurled a scoreless ninth. LA's homer-happy offense was started by Ronnie Belliard's two-out, first-inning grand slam.
