By Richard Irwin It was a lovely day. All the teachers were very lovey-dovey, all glad to have the kids back for a new school year. Many like second-grade teacher Cindy Kim couldn't resist giving the youngsters a big welcome-back hug on Aug. 25.

The Rotary Club of Walnut Valley helped the Wide World of Books project set a world record for the largest book drive. It took place during the Rotary International convention June 15-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

I hope you have been enjoying the Puente Hills Concerts in the Park every Tuesday evening at Schabarum Park! The Concerts committee has assembled a wonderful variety of music for our summer enjoyment. The third concert in the series takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22.
