Ryan Doumit drove in four runs and scored three times Wednesday, leading Pittsburgh to an 8-2 win over the Chicago Cubs and a sweep of a doubleheader. The Pirates won the opener 4-0 and have captured four of their last five games.
Adam Dunn had three hits including a three-run homer Monday to lead the Washington Nationals to an 8-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Cristian Guzman was 2-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
Charlie Morton and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout Saturday, leading the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 2-0 win over the San Francisco Giants. Ryan Doumit won the starting catching job for Pittsburgh last season and now the Pirates are rewarding him with a three-year contract. The Pirates also will have options on Doumit for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
