Sam Champion, longtime weatherman for New York's ABC affiliate, has been named weather anchor of ABC News' "Good Morning America," the network announced Tuesday.

ABC's Good Morning America Tuesday offered the position of weather anchor to New York TV personality Sam Champion, TMZ.com reported. Champion, who has been WABC-TV's weatherman for 19 years, will join the GMA team the first week in September, the Web site said.
