Goalie Nikolai Khabibulin, who led Tampa Bay to a Stanley Cup title five years ago, signed a four-year contract Wednesday with Edmonton. Khabibulin, 36, posted a 25-8-7 record with Chicago last season. Nikolai is a world class goaltender who has proven himself throughout his career as one of the best in the game, Edmonton General Manager Steve Tambellini said.

The New Jersey Devils have lost backup goalie Kevin Weekes for up to three weeks because of an apparent leg injury, which the team called a lower-body injury. The Devils said Saturday Weekes was injured when his left leg bent awkwardly as he went to his knees to cover the puck in the second-period of Friday's 5-4 overtime victory against Tampa Bay.

Martin Brodeur, playing for the first time in almost four months, recorded the 99th shutout of his career Thursday to give New Jersey a 4-0 win over Colorado. Brodeur had not seen action since Nov. 1, when he tore a muscle in his left elbow during a game against Atlanta.

Veteran goaltender Martin Brodeur, who has missed four months of play, was activated off injured reserve Wednesday by the NHL's New Jersey Devils. Brodeur, in his 16th NHL season, hasn't played since early November when he underwent surgery to repair a torn distal biceps tendon in his left elbow.
