The Oakland Athletics beat the Chicago White Sox 3-2 Sunday on a walk-off solo home run by Mark Ellis. Ellis, who went 2-for-3 in the game, connected on a two-out fastball off Bobby Jenks (2-4) who had come in to pitch the ninth. Scott Hairston, Nomar Garciaparra and Rajai Davis each had a pair of hits for the A's. Andrew Bailey (5-3) got the win by pitching the top of the ninth in relief of starter Trevor Cahill, who held the Sox to two runs on six hits in six-plus innings. Scott Podsednik and Jim Thome drove in Chicago's two runs. Oakland tied the contest 2-2 in the eighth.

Alexei Ramirez led off the 10th inning with a home run Friday, giving the Chicago White Sox an 8-7 victory over Oakland. The White Sox blew an early 6-0 lead and had to come back from a run down to force extra innings, then won it on the 14th homer of the year for Ramirez. Chicago stayed within 2 1/2 games of Detroit for the lead in the American League Central after the Tigers blanked Kansas City 1-0 earlier in the evening. Scott Hairston, Mark Ellis and Adam Kennedy each added an RBI for the A's, who have won four of their last six games.
