News - Scott Hoch
Scott Hoch opened his round with two birdies, shot a 4-under 66 and tied Tom Purtzer for the lead Thursday after one round of the Senior PGA Championship. Only 10 players, including 59-year-old Tom Kite, could break par at the Canterbury Golf Club in the opening round of the first major event on the Champions Tour this year.
Scott Hoch and Kenny Perry teamed to shoot a 12-under 60 Sunday and coasted to a four-shot victory at the Merrill Lynch Shootout at Naples, Fla. It was the second win at the event for Perry, who earned the title in 2005 while paired with John Huston. Hoch, who plays most of his golf on the Champions Tour, and Perry played three rounds at the Tiburon Golf Club in 31-under 185. Sunday's closing round was played in the scramble format, in which each player hits a tee shot and then both play from the spot where the better shot lands.
