Croatians Marin Cilic and Mario Ancic reached the semifinals Friday at the Zagreb Indoors, the first European event on the 2009 ATP Tour. Cilic, seeded second, defeated Antonio Veic 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) to run his match record this season to 11-1.

Defending champion Sergiy Stakhovsky, ranked 82nd in the world, surprised third-seeded Ivo Karlovic Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the Zagreb Indoors. Stakhovsky, unseeded for this event, defeated the 6-10 Karlovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
