Greenbelt Festival is back at Cheltenham racecourse for another year bringing with it a unique mix of music, talks, performing arts and comedy. Last night the Christian festival got under way with a reggae-infused set by Michael Franti and Spearhead on the main stage.

There was mud - and plenty of it. But despite the weather, revellers declared the sixth Beautiful Days festival a resounding success. The three-day event, at Escot, near Ottery St Mary, closed with a performance by perennial folk punk favourites the Levellers.

Gloucester Guildhall is reopening its doors on September 1 to welcome some big bands and cutting-edge comedians. Scottish rockers Glasvegas are returning to the venue on September 21 after impressing the crowds at the T In The Park festival this year.
