By GEORGE CHAPPELL; THE NEWS STAFF ST. GEORGE - Concerns about rising costs, loss of local control of the town's K-8 school, and declining student enrollment and its effect on the quality of education dominated an informational meeting on the state's school district consolidation plan Thursday.

ROCKLAND - The Georges River Land Trust has received a $75,000 North American Wetlands Conservation Act grant to support acquisition of an ecologically and scenically important riverfront property in South Thomaston.

ROCKLAND - The Georges River Land Trust has received a donation of a 17-acre conservation easement and the purchase of an 18-acre property both on the St. George River in South Thomaston.
