Roddick got by Lleyton Hewitt in two sets Thursday by winning two tiebreakers and matched that feat Friday in the quarterfinals with a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5) victory over Ivo Karlovic.

Igor Kunitsyn upset sixth-seeded fellow Russian Igor Andreev 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 Monday at the $1,226,500 Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis. In other opening-round play, Australian qualifier Chris Guccione made 19 aces while beating American Vincent Spadea 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-5) and Israeli qualifier Dudi Sela defeated American Bobby Reynolds 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. This week's top seeds are American Andy Roddick, Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro, American James Blake and Swede Robin Soderling.
