News - SuccessTech Academy shooting
By Catherine Candisky, The Columbus Dispatch, Ohio Nov. 13--Despite the well-publicized shootings in a Cleveland school and a Columbine-like plot in Westerville this year, violence actually has gone down in Ohio schools, a new report to a state school-board panel says.
As the public schools chief prepared a security assessment for the mayor, officials were unable to explain how an armed, suspended student was able to enter his school and shoot four people before killing himself.
Despite 26 security cameras, officials couldn't say Thursday how an armed, suspended 14-year-old student was able to get into his downtown school a day earlier and shoot two students and two teachers before killing himself.
The brother of a high school student who shot and wounded four people before killing himself was led out of his home in handcuffs by police officers on Thursday, as family members looked on and called his name.
