NEW YORK, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Alan Cohen, Chairman of Abacus Advisors LLC, today said that he was "pleased with the outcome" of the recent sale of substantially all assets of Filene's Basement, Inc. to an affiliate of Syms Corp.

New Jersey discount retailer Syms Corp. submitted the winning bid for bankrupt clothing chain Filene's Basement with a $62.4 million offer, the company said. Syms Corp. beat out a bid by Men's Wearhouse, The Boston Globe reported Tuesday.
