Taj Gibson made all 10 of his field goal attempts and scored 24 points Friday, pacing USC to a 72-55 victory over Boston College in the NCAA Tournament. The Trojans were locked in a 44-44 battle 7 minutes deep in the second half, but then embarked on an 8-0 run that was finished off by a Gibson slam dunk. Gibson came within one field goal of equaling the all-time NCAA Tournament record for most baskets without a miss.
Quincy Pondexter scored eight of his 22 points late in the second half Saturday to help No. 19 Washington post a 60-51 win over Southern California. Jon Brockman had 14 rebounds for Washington (20-7, 11-4 Pac-10), which leads the conference standings.
Missouri's Demarre Carroll scored 29 points Sunday in an 83-72 Tigers' win over 20th-ranked Southern California in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off event. J.T. Tiller added 14 points and Leo Lyons 13 for the Tigers (4-1) in the consolation-bracket contest. Dwight Lewis led USC's scoring with 15 points.
