Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn won the women's Ordina Open Saturday at 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, beating Belgium's Yanina Wickmayer 6-3, 7-5. The unseeded Tanasugarn successfully defended her 2008 title, winning her fifth career title in seven finals on a grass court surface.

No. 1-rated Dinara Safina swept to a straight-set victory Wednesday in the second round of the $220,000 Ordina Open tournament in the Netherlands. Safina, who also on Wednesday was made the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships, claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Yaroslava Shvedova.

Third-seeded Flavia Pennetta claimed a straight-set victory Monday in first-round play at the $220,000 Ordina Open tennis tournament in the Netherlands. Pennetta defeated Yung-Jan Chan 6-4, 6-2 behind a service game that didn't allow a break and a return game that dominated Chan's second serve.
