Jun. 1--Viewed without context, the numbers are damning. Last year, the Central Missouri Humane Society killed more animals than it placed in adoption. The race wasn't even close. The Humane Society killed 4,693 animals and adopted out 2,557. About 300 animals were returned to their owners.
