Websites belonging to India's Supreme Court, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Department of Telecommunications, and both of the nation's political parties were targets of an Anonymous-led hacking attack.
The hackers are at it again, this time aiming their DDoS cannons at popular torrent site Pirate Bay. The DDoS (Or Distributed Denial of Service) attack against the torrent site lasted at least 24 hours before the site was knocked out of commission.
A Microsoft-funded Russian startup company has developed a new technology to stop the downloading of pirated content.
The Swedish website The Pirate Bay has long billed itself as “The world’s most resilient Bit Torrent site” – and more recently suggested it was “The galaxy’s most resilient Bit Torrent site,” but it has come under increased pressure from copyright holders in recent weeks.
A decade ago peer-to-peer filing sharing service Napster was essentially shut down for copyright infringement. Many in the music industry likely hoped that would be the end of digital piracy, but in fact it was only the beginning of a trend in the illegal sharing of music and movies.
