A new animated series about Canadian comedy characters Bob and Doug McKenzie is set to air on the Global network. Bob & Doug, featuring older versions of the lovable, but not-too-bright, beer-guzzling McKenzie brothers who first appeared on SCTV in the 1980s, is scheduled to premiere Sunday, CanWest News Service said. Dave Thomas, the creator of the Doug character, will lend his voice to the animated version, while Dave Coulier will take over the role of Bob from semi-retired actor Rick Moranis. Thomas and Moranis serve as executive producers on the animated series, CanWest said. Bob and Doug were on their 'Great White North' set on 'SCTV' and they didn't have any world built out for them, Thomas told the news service in a phone interview about the difference between having the guys appear on a sketch comedy show and giving them their own series.
