By THOMAS CONTENT and TOM DAYKIN Appleton - Spending by tourists visiting Wisconsin rose by more than $1 billion in 2006, thanks in part to a sharp rise in vacation spending last summer, according to a study released Tuesday by the state Tourism Department.
