Barry Zito turned in a solid seven innings while four Giants chipped in two RBI apiece in San Francisco's 10-2 drubbing of Colorado Tuesday. Zito (10-12) gave up two runs on five hits and struck out nine to pull the Giants to within two games of Colorado in the National League wild-card chase. Juan Uribe, Travis Ishikawa, Bengie Molina and Aaron Rowand each had two RBI as the Giants outhit the Rockies 10-5. Ubaldo Jimenez (13-11) took the loss for only the second time in his past dozen starts.

The San Francisco Giants got first baseman Ryan Garko from the Cleveland Indians Monday for minor league pitcher Scott Barnes. Garko, 28, is hitting .285 with 11 homers and 39 RBI in 78 games this season. He was a third-round draft pick by the Indians in 2003.

Bengie Molina staked San Francisco to a quick lead with a two-run homer in the first inning Thursday and the Giants coasted past San Diego 9-3. The Padres lost their fifth straight. San Francisco held onto its 2-0 advantage until the sixth, when the Giants blew the game open on solo homers by Travis Ishikawa and Juan Uribe, along with a two-run double by Pablo Sandoval. Tim Lincecum (10-2) took a shutout into the seventh, but wound up surrendering two runs on three hits in 6 2/3 innings. The loss went to Josh Geer (1-4), who was touched for six runs on seven hits in 4 2/3. Lincecum struck out eight to run his National League-leading total to 149.
