Milwaukee closer Trevor Hoffman will replace injured counterpart Jonathan Broxton of the Los Angeles Dodgers on the National League All-Star roster. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Broxton was told by LA Manager Joe Torre he was being shut down until after the All-Star break because of a toe injury on his right foot. Hoffman was named his replacement Sunday by Major League Baseball. It was a big surprise, Hoffman said on Milwaukee's Web site before a 7-4 loss Sunday to the Dodgers.
