Melissa Griffin, the co-state coordinator for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network in Florida, said her branch was able to collect vital information regarding the 2008 storm that was then passed along to the National Weather Service, USA Today said Monday. By having a dense network of dedicated observers, Florida CoCoRaHS was able to provide invaluable information during Tropical Storm Fay, Griffin said. Folks in Florida did a great job of measuring and reporting, said Nolan Doesken, who founded the weather watching program that is in its 14th year.
