Jamaica's Usain Bolt ran 100 meters in 9.58 seconds at the World Track Championships in Berlin Sunday, breaking his own world record. Bolt cut .11 seconds from his previous mark, set at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. It was the biggest change in the 100-meter world record since electronic timing was introduced 41 years ago. Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay coasted into the 100-meter semifinals Saturday and Christian Cantwell won the first American gold at the World Track Championships. Three finals will be held on the first day of the nine-day competition, those coming in the men's 20-kilometer walk, the women's 10,000-meter run and the men's shot put.
