KAMAS -- The Civilian Conservation Corps, established in 1933 by the federal government, employed an army of young men across the nation during the Great Depression in a series of conservation projects.
The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest plans to perform a prescribed burn today near Ray's Valley in Spanish Fork Canyon, if weather permits. Officials expect the burn to treat 2,000 acres and affect mostly aspen, Gambel oak and spruce trees.
PROVO -- The Forest Service has scheduled two open houses for the public to comment on an environmental analysis to identify areas in the Uinta National Forest that are suitable for oil and gas leasing.

SPANISH FORK -- The popular Three Forks trailhead in Diamond Fork Canyon has reopened after being closed for nearly two years. Visitors can now access the trail system from Three Forks. Parking is prohibited along the road two miles above and below the trailhead.
