By Linda Thomson Deseret News A group of landowners in the Weber River Valley have asked the Utah Supreme Court to revisit a recent decision that permits the public to walk in publicly owned waterways -- even if the area is on privately owned land.

By Stephen Hunt, The Salt Lake Tribune Aug. 5--A group of Weber River Valley landowners is asking the Utah Supreme Court to reconsider the court's recent decision allowing anglers, rafters and other river users to walk in publicly owned waterways -- even when the water flows through private land.

I have never been so disappointed in the coverage of a story than I have been about the Utah Supreme Court's ruling on waterway access. The Deseret News waited a week to report the story (July 24).

By Ray Grass Deseret News Last week the Utah Supreme Court ruled that the public has a right to use public waters in streams and rivers, and along with that goes the right to walk on the water's bed. It was a ruling Utah fishermen had hoped for but, to be honest, never thought possible.
