By Vicki Vaughan, San Antonio Express-News Oct. 3--The Valero Texas Open, once last on the PGA Tour's charitable rankings, announced Tuesday evening that it had raised $8 million for philanthropic purposes -- the most ever raised for charidty by a PGA Tour event.
The Valero Texas Open has raised $8 million for charity, achieving its goal to surpass the total raised by the 2006 Valero Texas Open, which at the time was the most money raised for charity by an event on the PGA TOUR.
Valero Energy Corp. (NYSE:VLO) made history when the company announced that the Valero Texas Open at La Cantera has raised $7 million for charity -- the largest contribution of any tournament in the PGA TOUR's history.
