Coromandel Iwi are to receive part of a $97 million Government payment to settle aquaculture space allocation reached in 2004. The Crown had until 2014 to provide the iwi with the equivalent of 20 per cent of aquaculture space created between 1992 and 2004, or the financial equivalent.
