By Gail Smith, The Charlotte Observer, N.C. Feb. 14--It was an uncharacteristically prickly Cabarrus County school board meeting Monday night. Parents complained about students failing English IV during the fall semester because they fell short on the new senior project required for graduation.
By PAM ZUBECK THE GAZETTE Colorado Springs has billed El Paso County about $11,750 in stormwater fees for the year's first quarter, and that bill could rise. Two commissioners already have said they shouldn't have to pay, and all five commissioners are skeptical the 28 invoices are accurate.
The small, wood-frame house washed away in the flood. But the brick steps and barbecue pit, built painstakingly by a man six years dead, remain as evidence of the lives lived here.
