North Carolina's Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington are among 49 early entry players who are eligible for next week's NBA draft, the league said Tuesday. Lawson and Ellison helped the Tar Heels to the 2009 NCAA Division I basketball title.

Guards Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington of NCAA national champion North Carolina both said Thursday they will enter the NBA Draft. The 5-foot-11 inch Lawson, a Clinton, Md., native, was the ACC player-of-the-year last season.

Ty Lawson led North Carolina with 21 points Monday and the Tar Heels beat Michigan State 89-72 to win their fifth NCAA basketball championship. Lawson -- the ACC Player of the Year -- also had six assists and a championship-game record eight steals.

North Carolina beat Villanova 83-69 Saturday in the NCAA semifinals and will meet Michigan State Monday for the national championship. North Carolina will be playing for its fifth national basketball crown against a team the Tar Heels trounced in December. Ty Lawson had 22 points, seven rebounds and eight assists and Wayne Ellington added 20 points and nine rebounds for the Tar Heels (33-4).
