By Melissa M. Scallan, The Sun Herald, Biloxi, Miss. Nov. 14--GULFPORT -- Ralph Noonkester was president of William Carey College in Hattiesburg in the 1970s when he realized the school needed to expand and purchased land from the Gulf Coast Military Academy on U.S. 90 in Gulfport.

By Melissa M. Scallan, The Sun Herald, Biloxi, Miss. Sep. 21--GULFPORT -- Larry Kennedy, president of William Carey University, died Thursday morning at his home in Hattiesburg. Kennedy died from complications of ALS, also known as Lou Gherig's Disease. He was diagnosed about 18 months ago.
