Ichiro Suzuki had four hits, including a game-winning two-run single in the 10th, to lead Japan past Korea 5-3 in Monday's World Baseball Classic title game. Seiichi Uchikawa had three hits and scored twice for Japan, including the decisive run in extra innings. Korea tied the game in the ninth on an RBI single by Bum Ho Lee but Japan stormed back in the 10th. Uchikawa singled, went to second on a sacrifice bunt and then took third on a single by Akinori Iwamura.

Daisuke Matsuzaka went 4 2/3 strong innings Sunday to lead Japan past Team USA 9-4 and into the World Baseball Classic title game in Los Angeles. Japan will play Korea Monday night, with a chance to win its first WBC title since the event's inaugural season in 2006.

Pinch-hitter Michihiro Ogasawara singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth Thursday night and Japan defeated South Korea in the World Baseball Classic 6-2. The game was the last in pool play and determined the pairings for this weekend's semifinals, which will be played in Los Angeles. Japan and South Korea began the tournament in Tokyo, playing in the same double-elimination pool.
