The New York Yankees reported Tuesday that outfielder Xavier Nady won't need season-ending surgery for his injured elbow as expected. It now appears Nady's partially torn elbow ligament and will need therapy for a few weeks.

The move was made following a meeting with team officials Thursday morning before New York's home opener against the Cleveland Indians. The Yankees said on their Web site that the injury may need surgery to repair its damage. The initial report is not good, Manager Joe Girardi said.
