TORONTO, May 15, 2014 /CNW/ - The month of May is tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) awareness month in Canada, and May 15(th) is TSC Global Awareness Day.
Thousands of individuals have had kidneys removed unnecessarily because doctors misdiagnosed their disease.
Two independent teams of researchers have identified a role for enhanced activation of the signaling protein Notch in tumors characterized by inactivation of either the TSC1 or the TSC2 protein.
This study consisted of 10 patients (three male and seven female) with hepatic angiomyolipoma, with a mean age of 55.1 years (age range, 19-78 years).
