SHOP assistant Emma Hutchinson is preparing to do the Great North Run in memory of her cousin, who died this year at the age of 16. The 18-year-old hopes to raise money to fight cystic fibrosis (CF), the disease which claimed the life of her cousin, Rebecca Cork, of River Garth, Darlington.

THE green light has been given for a multi-million pound care home development in the region. Teesdale District Council has approved plans to build a pounds 6m residential care centre for the elderly on the former Richardson Hospital site in Barnard Castle.
