The Austrian Black and Tan Hound is thought to be the descendent of the original Celtic Hound. It was used for tracking wounded game in high altitudes. It is black with small fawn colored markings, notably two above the eyes. The coat of the Austrian Black and Tan Hound is smooth, short and dense. It has medium-sized rounded ears that lie flat and a long, slightly bent tail. It stands from 19 to 22 inches tall.
