HONEYVILLE, Box Elder County -- The Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday in Box Elder County for a new 100 megawatt geothermal power plant that will supply energy to Riverside, Calif.
The U.S. House passed by voice vote Monday a bill to give Mantua, Box Elder County, 31 acres of federal land for any "legitimate public purpose" it chooses. Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, sponsor of the bill, has said that potential uses could include a cemetery, town hall, fire station, park or school.

HOWELL, Box Elder County -- A magnitude 3.1 earthquake rattled the area just north of the Great Salt Lake on Sunday. Officials at the University of Utah Seismograph Stations say the quake hit around 1:27 p.m. about eight miles southwest of Howell and 23 miles west of Tremonton.
