A new study on elephant vocalizations reveals that although these magnificent beasts share striking similarities with human vocalizations, as discovered in research last year, there are several key differences between how we make sounds and elephants trumpet theirs.
African elephants are known to communicate with infrasound - extremely low-pitched vocalizations - over a distance of miles. These infrasounds are at a very low frequency rate and are generally below the threshold of human hearing.
