Recently acquired Dallas Mavericks forward Tim Thomas had arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee Tuesday. It wasn't clear when Thomas would be able to resume play. Dr. T.O. Souryal, the NBA club's team physician, performed the procedure at Texas Sports Medicine. Thomas signed with Dallas in the off-season and injured himself while working out in his Southern California home. The Los Angeles Clippers won the NBA Draft lottery Tuesday and will have the first pick on June 25. The Clippers, who finished this past season 19-63 and had a 17.7 percent chance of getting the top pick, won the lottery for the third time. The Clippers had the top pick in 1998 and selected Pacific's Michael Olowokandi and again in 1988, when they took Kansas' Danny Manning. Memphis (24-68) will pick second, followed by Oklahoma City (23-59) and Sacramento (17-65).
