Researchers Bend Radio Waves Into Pasta Shapes
2012-03-02 13:36:50

Researchers have solved the problem of radio congestion by twisting radio waves into the shape of fusilli pasta. Scientists reported in the Institute of Physics and German Physical Society's New Journal of Physics that this feat allows for a potentially infinite number of channels to be broadcast and received. A wave is able to twist a certain number of times in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction, allowing for several configurations. "In a three-dimensional perspective,...

Word of the Day
tesla
  • The unit of magnetic flux density in the International System of Units, equal to the magnitude of the magnetic field vector necessary to produce a force of one newton on a charge of one coulomb moving perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field vector with a velocity of one meter per second. It is equivalent to one weber per square meter.
This word is named for Nikola Tesla, the inventor, engineer, and futurist.
