By Gary Strauss The Hollywood writers' strike crippled much of the entertainment industry. But for the creative staff behind NBC's freshman action comedy Chuck, returning Sept. 29, there was at least one bright side to the lengthy layoff. "Unfortunately, the strike impacted the show when we were hitting our stride creatively and really building momentum," says series co-creator Josh Schwartz. "But while we were on the picket line, we discussed a lot about where we wanted the show to go....

By Tim Cornwell HE MARKED his 78th birthday yesterday and has not made a film in five years. But Sir Sean Connery, dressed in a natty white polo shirt and James Bond-ish black blazer, still makes women swoon. As the actor launched his book Being a Scot, an idiosyncratic look at his life and Scotland, an American woman in the Charlotte Square audience got her chance. "Hi, Sean, I've waited 45 years for this moment," she told him. "I want to make sure you've seen me. Of all the women...

By GREG HERNANDEZ The days of keeping a low profile at industry events are all but over for Zachary Levi, star of the NBC action-comedy "Chuck." But, like just about everything else, the 27-year-old actor has a good sense of humor about it. "When I was on 'Less Than Perfect,' I had the luxury of being able to sort of skim through the red carpet, take a couple of pics, do a few interviews then I'd be on the dance floor all night long," he said recently. "But now I've got 10 red lights in...

By Craig Brown IT IS one of the few pieces of film music that attracts as much attention as the movie itself - the James Bond theme song. Almost a genre in its own right, the list of artists who have stepped up to record it reads like a who's who of modern 20th- century music, including Sir Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Lulu, Carly Simon and Nancy Sinatra. However, the makers of Quantum Of Solace, the 22nd episode in the Bond franchise which is due to be released in the UK in October,...
