U.S. and Australian scientists say they've discovered a new iguana species in the central regions of Fiji. The Fiji Banded Iguana, Brachylophus fasciatus, is found in Fiji, Tonga and other pacific islands. It is believed to have evolved from the Green Iguana from the Americas. Male banded iguanas are emerald green with light bluish bands. Females are solid green with occasional spots. Both have red-orange eyes and yellow nostrils. It is endangered due to habitat loss and the introduction of predators.
